Breathwork FAQs
-
Breathwork refers to a variety of practices that involve conscious manipulation of breathing patterns to promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
Breathwork techniques can be traced back to ancient traditions and are used in various spiritual, healing, and therapeutic contexts.
There are many different types of breathwork, each with its own unique approach and goals.
Here are the types used in “Everybody Breathe” breathwork practices:
1. Integrative Breathwork: 8-10 different breath patterns used in practice that involves regulating the breath to enhance vitality and balance the body and mind.
2. Meditative Transformational Breathwork: A practice that emphasises diaphragmatic breathing to release emotional blockages and promote personal growth.
3. Holotropic Breathwork: A technique that involves rapid, deep breathing to induce altered states of consciousness and promote healing. *currently used only in 1:1 private sessions.
Breathwork is believed to work by influencing the autonomic nervous system and stimulating the relaxation response. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood and energy levels, enhance mental clarity and focus, and promote physical health.
While breathwork can be practised on its own, it is often used in conjunction with other healing or therapeutic modalities, such as meditation, yoga, or psychotherapy.
Breathwork is not a substitute for counselling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care or substance abuse treatment, it is not used in place of any form of therapy, but can be very supportive in addition. It is important to work with a qualified practitioner and approach breathwork with caution, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or concerns.
